There are three genera and eight species of bears existing in the world, but only two of them, the brown bear and the American black bear, are safe from extinction. The remaining six species are threatened with extinction, and their conservation is an urgent issue.
Meanwhile, in Japan, more than 200 people were injured in accidents caused by bears last year, and the number of bears exterminated exceeded 8,000.
Bears are in danger of extinction and are facing problems of conflict with humans, but not much is known or communicated to society about their population, habitat status, physiology, and ecology, and bears are becoming more and more endangered, so more scientific information is needed to protect them.
In this project, we will promote research on the physiology and ecology of bears around the world together with young researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students. We will also disseminate the scientific information obtained from these studies in an easy-to-understand manner, and work with everyone to promote the conservation of bears, the symbol of the forest, and their habitat. We will raise research funds for this purpose through crowdfunding.
