Crowdfunding [Part 3! The forefront of bear research around the world | Understanding the future of the Earth through the ecology of bears]
We have launched the crowdfunding challenge, [Part 3! The forefront of bear research around the world | Understanding the future of the Earth through the ecology of bears] (https://readyfor.jp/projects/bearconservation2025).
There are eight species of bears in three genera in the world, but only two of them, the brown bear and the American black bear, are not at risk of extinction. The remaining six species are at risk of extinction, and their conservation is an urgent issue.
Meanwhile, in Japan, more than 200 people were involved in bear-related accidents two years ago (2023), and the number of bears captured and killed through extermination and other measures exceeded 9,000.
Bears are at risk of extinction and face problems such as conflicts with humans, but not much is known or communicated to society about their populations, habitat conditions, physiology, and ecology, and we believe that scientific information will be increasingly necessary in the future.
In the past two crowdfunding campaigns, we received donations from a total of approximately 1,330 people from a variety of professions, and the circle of support has expanded more than we had originally anticipated. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for everyone’s cooperation.
In this project, we will continue to work with young researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students to advance research into the physiology and ecology of bears around the world. We will also disseminate the scientific information obtained from these studies in an easy-to-understand manner, and together with everyone, we will work to conserve bears, the symbol of the forest, and their habitats. To achieve this, we will raise research funds through crowdfunding.
We would appreciate your kind donations to ensure that we leave an environment in which people and bears can live together for the future. After the publication, we will also post notifications on the page, so we would be very grateful if you could help us spread the information. Thank you very much!
